SliceHost

I got some VPS space last week to free up some space on my one server and to host one of my websites. I got it from hosting that I have heard nothing but good things about, and that is SliceHost. For now, I only got the cheapest package which is fine for right now and it works great. Now, I have nothing bad to say about SliceHost. Their chat support is absolutely fantastic, their up time is great, they have stable servers and they have a very easy to use website and web interface. You also get full root access to your server and choice of what distro you want. I would highly recommend you at least try their service for one month if you are looking for a VPS host. If you are going to sign up, I would really be thankful if you used this referral:

iChat

I have been a Mac user for over a year now, but never have used iChat until now for some certain reasons. I have been using Adium, which is a great client, and I would suggest to anybody, but I wanted to stick more to using the Apple software already on the Mac. To me, iChat is missing 3 features that I would want. More IM support (like MSN), ability to use just 1 window to have all your contacts, and a way to disable having to accept every IM you get. It came to my attention today about a few tweaks you can do to fix this. For the last 2 on my list, there is a 3rd Party piece of software called Chax. This gives you a few more preferences to customize. Then to get MSN on there, I had to go through a little bit of a long process to get it setup via a Jabber account. Despite those missing features, I think iChat is a great client, and with a little more work, it will be my absolute favorite.

NiceCast

I have recently acquired a license for a piece of cool Mac Software called NiceCast. This software allows you to host your own radio station via the web from your Mac. This allows you to take audio from just about any application such as iTunes or Safari. It also gives you the option of using a microphone. On top of that, there are many effects you can use. There are many other features that I won’t even go into details about here, but you should really check it out for yourself. You can get the free version and use some of the features, but a full license is $40. I strongly recommend you try it out if you are looking for this kind of software.

Firefox 3.5

For the past few weeks I have been using the pre-release version of Firefox 3.5. This morning, the final release of Firefox 3.5 came out. If it is anything like the pre-release, it should be an excellent browser. It doesn’t crash all the time anymore (mainly when using Flash), it runs JavaScript a little bit better (but not like Safari 4 does), and there are plenty of features. If you are already a Firefox user or have never tried Firefox, you have to get Firefox 3.5. It is worth the time and space to use it.

InspIRCd

The other day I was testing out an IRCd software called InspIRCd. I was told about it from a friend of mine, Jared. I am used to compiling and managing UnrealIRCd, which I have talked about in a previous post. It is definitely a lot different then Unreal, but in a good way. It runs great, its stable, and it doesn’t hog up to much CPU or Memory. However, if you are really used to UnrealIRCd, I suggest you stick with it. If your are still kind of new to all of it, try both of them out.

GameSpot

For years now I have been using a website called GameSpot to get all of the latest news, reviews, and videos about video games. Just over a year ago, I finally joined as a total access member. The site is basically a game news site where they post everything about video games on any platform. They provide live shows, coverage of E3, Reviews, Game Guides and much more. I highly encourage you use GameSpot for your latest news. There is a free account you can get, but for only $3.33 a month, you can get full access to complete game guides, HD videos, and many other benefits throughout the site. The site can be found at http://www.gamespot.com
